I love oatmeal but I do have gluten sensitivities. Pure oatmeal does not contain gluten but most oatmeal on the market has been cross-contaminated with products that do contain gluten such as wheat, rye and barley. Oat groats do not contain gluten and since they are not processed they are not cross-contaminated with products that do contain gluten. Oat groats can be cooked to make a hot cereal or simply soaked to make a cold or room temperature cereal. 1/4 of a cup of oat groats contains 7 grams of protein.
- 1/2 cup oat groats
- 1/4 cup raisins
- sprinkle shredded coconut
- 1 tbsp ground flax seed
- sprinkle cinnamon
1. Soak oat groats over night in water.
2. Next morning drain water and add other ingredients.
3. Mix and serve with almond milk.
***NOTE*** To change up your raw cereal daily feel free to swap or add new ingredients. This cereal is great with bananas, apples, berries, dates, nuts, cacao nibs, and even agave nectar for some extra sweetness!
