Superfoods is a term that is used very often in relation to optimal health. Superfoods are foods that promote optimal health due to their high source of nutrients such as phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Superfoods are known to protect against many diseases, cleanse the body, contain medicinal properties and promote weight loss.

GREENS - Dark leafy green vegetables contain chlorophyll, vitamins, minerals, fiber, enzymes, digestible proteins, and phytonutrients.

BERRIES - Berries are a great source of antioxidants and phytonutrients. Some berries are said to protect skin from aging as well as prevent the spread of certain cancer cells.

CACAO - Cacao is the raw form of chocolate. Not only is it delicious but it is full of antioxidants and minerals such as sulfur and magnesium. You can eat cacao in powder form or even as nibs (chopped up cacao beans).

SPIRULINA - Spirulina is a blue-green micro algae that is high in protein, chlorophyll, vitamin B, betacarotene, minerals and vitamin E. Spirulina comes in powder and flake form which makes it easy to add to smoothies.

MACA  - Maca root is related to the radish and turnip family and has been a medicinal source for 2,000 years. Maca is loaded with phytonutrients, fiber, macronutrients, protein, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Maca is also sold in powdered form and thus easy to add to a smoothie.
